The HR profession is premised on service to others – recruiting, new employee orientation, payroll, benefits, conflict resolution, organization development, talent management… This session is about taking a break to focus on your own renewal and development. The majority of people who enter this field are energized by service, but too much of even a good thing can be exhausting if we don’t know how to consistently replenish ourselves. In this session, we’ll review the rationale behind strengths-based development and identify ways that common organizational practices can inhibit the recognition and leveraging of strengths. Then we’ll use individual and partner exercises to explore practices for being more intentional about applying one’s strengths in day-to-day work activities in order to achieve greater productivity, accelerated goal achievement, and increased job satisfaction – all without burnout!
