Human Resource professionals leave behind many opportunities to connect and help team members focus in most One-on-Ones. At best, they get very tacit surface-level updates; at worst, they give advice that the team member does not use, and then they feel devalued by the lack of follow-through. In this presentation, we discuss a new way to approach the One-on-One conversation. By incorporating a Coaching framework and open-ended questions specifically tailored to these discussions, the conversation can get much deeper than just tactical updates.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the benefits of Coaching and the three vicious cycles that are avoided by using Coaching.
  • Demonstrate your ability to utilize the framework and questions in a judgment free, supportive environment.
  • Build a Coaching habit that will help the team to become more self-sufficient, be more focused and reconnect to the work that has impact as well as meaning.
